Our Advent and Christmas Message Series at King of Kings Dulles South: What Do You Fear? Insisting on Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy.
Sundays, November 30 - January 3, at 10:00 AMDuring this sacred season, we anticipate how Christ’s birth invites us into new ways of living, being, and loving. Yet new beginnings can also feel uncertain or overwhelming. Perhaps that is why God’s messengers so often begin with the same words: “Do not be afraid.” This year, our Advent–Christmas series, What Do You Fear?, acknowledges that fear is real - just as it was for Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the magi. Rather than denying it, we learn to move through fear with courage, curiosity, and trust. Over the coming weeks, we’ll take seriously the world Jesus entered -a world marked by fear and injustice -and listen again for the angels’ message today. By naming our fears, we may begin to see more clearly the hope God is already bringing to life around us. Christ still enters fearful places with good news that is resilient, steady, and meant for all people.
November 30: In the time of Herod, we long for God to break in.
December 7: When we are running out of hope, God is at work.
December 14: Even in our fear, we are called forward.
December 21: When you are afraid, give me your hand.
December 24: Good News is louder than fear – Candlelight Service 5:00 PM
December 28: Let fear fuel a fire for justice: Lessons and Carols Brunch Church
January 4: Fear doesn’t stop us: New Year’s Epiphany Worship Gathering
Christmas Giving Tree
This year, our KKDS Christmas Giving Tree is supporting four different opportunities to serve locally, regionally, and worldwide. Visit our Giving Tree Page for more details about these four unique ways to give during Christmas:
LCPS Family Liaisons providing gift cards local families,
Christmas Coalition: Sponsoring two local children,
Our Summer 2026 Appalachia Mission Trip,
ELCA Word Hunger relief efforts, and
Our 2026 KofK Hypothermia Shelter.
On Sundays, we are welcome to take an ornament off of our Christmas Giving Tree to make a donation towards any one of these incredible efforts. Feel free to hang that ornament on your own tree as a reminder of the many ways we continue to provide for and serving our local, regional, and worldwide neighbors. Every donation, large and small, matters. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
