Opportunities to Get Involved: In the Church
A church is more than just the building or the pastor. It is the people who worship and participate in the life and activities of our congregation. There are many ways to become involved in the work of King of Kings Dulles South.
Leadership
Our church has a leadership team of elected members and the pastor that meets regularly to help plan and facilitate our church’s mission to share God’s love by serving our neighbors. As part of their preparation, they participate in regular devotions and discussions to deepen their own spiritual formation. Members serve three-year terms before rotating off.
Worship
Liturgy means the “work of the people” and we want to offer everyone to have an opportunity to participate in worship. Contact Pastor Garrett if you are interested in in volunteering to be a worship assistant. Examples include describing a moment when you felt God’s presence during the Passing of Peace, helping with audiovisual needs, sharing your gifts such as reading, music, art, dance, and poetry with the congregation, or in any other way that might contribute to our times of church service. Your time and talents are always welcome and appreciated.
Children, Youth, and Family
King of Kings has a heart for their Kids, Youth, & Family ministries. However, they cannot happen without many volunteers! If you have an interest in planning, teaching, feeding, service projects, chaperoning, transporting, recreation, retreats, or other means of supporting these incredible ministries, then please reach out to Pastor Garrett today. Please note that safety is a priority, so a background check is required to work within our children or youth ministries.
Service
Mission: Lead or organize opportunities to serve locally, nationally, and worldwide.
Discipleship: Facilitate ways for folks to grow in their faith through study, contemplation, or service.
Prayer Ministry: Call or send a card to encourage those that need some assistance, comfort, or hope.
Fellowship: Help coordinate an event that brings people together for worship, socialization, laughter, or friendship.
Participate
Pray: Planting a church requires prayer, dedication, and patiently waiting for God’s will to open doors, plant seeds, and enrich the lives of people. We covet your prayers during this process.
Join: Are you interested in being a part of this new community of faith? Now is the time to learn more about current efforts to be incarnational within our neighborhoods and about preparing for future opportunities to share the Good News. Talents: There are many ways to become a ministry partner with King of Kings. We know that your time, talents, and resources are extremely important and valuable to you. Should you be willing to generously offer your time or expertise in technology and audio/visual equipment and use, photography, community services, music, crafts, teaching, or other ministry areas, please contact us.
Offerings: Realistically, every organization has expenses, and a church is no exception. Should you be willing to also give financially, please visit our online giving page. We Thank You in advance for living generously! We have two types of offerings:
Our regular offering helps pay for our county-owned meeting places, equipment, materials, pastor’s salary, and some of our Lutheran missions.
Our Love Your Neighbor offerings are directed to community and world partners to help with their missions each month.
