Faith Formation for Kids and Families

Kids are a vital part of our church and represent the next generation of those who will shape our community’s future. We know that “it takes a village” to nurture a child’s growth and faith, which is why we offer a wide range of real-life discipleship experiences for children and our church family.

We welcome and enjoy interacting with kids at all Sunday gatherings. Included is a dedicated children’s message with Pr. Garrett. Coloring books, crayons, and small books for kids to read are always available, as well. The family-style meal of Brunch Church and the monthly service projects provide additional opportunities to build friendships with all ages.

Weekly Family Resources

In our weekly email, we provide faith resources for families to utilize during our gatherings that follow along with our Scripture readings. These are from Illustrated Ministry and include a coloring page, questions about the lessons, and other fun activities. For copyright reasons, these are not be shared publicly.

Children and Family Events

We often host family-centered events where families with young children get to know one another, have fun, and share in fellowship. These events have included Monster Mini Golf, White Elephant Bingo, Tubing, Bowling, and many other wonderful activities. Stay tuned to our webpage for our next upcoming family activity or inquire with Pr. Garrett. Also, let us know if you have an idea or would like to help plan the next one! We also partner with our Greenbriar Campus to host joint opportunities.

Children and Family Annual Events

Join us for a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt for children and families! Held outdoors at Meadow Glen Park following our 10:00 AM Easter Worship Celebration, the event features an egg hunt, games, and fellowship as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Stay tuned for more details as Easter approaches!

Mark your calendars for our annual Picnic in the Park, the last Thursday and Friday before school starts, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Meadow Glen Park in Aldie, VA. We’ll begin with a family picnic dinner at 6:00 PM, followed by games, Bible story, music, crafts, a service project, and dessert for kids of all ages. Parents can relax with refreshments, lawn games, and fellowship. It’s a joyful way to celebrate the end of summer and get ready for a new school year! Registration opens in June.

Each year, we spread Christmas cheer by singing carols and bringing joy to the residents of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital. People of all ages are welcome—feel free to wear something festive! After caroling, everyone is invited to Pr. Garrett’s home for a holiday gathering and Christmas party. Join us as we celebrate the season together—all are welcome!

Celebrating Faith-Filled Milestones

People of all ages are welcome to receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. In baptism, God joyfully adopts us as beloved children and welcomes us into the community of faith. Baptisms are typically celebrated during Sunday morning worship, though special arrangements can be made to accommodate other circumstances. For more information or to schedule a baptism for yourself or your child, please contact Pr. Garrett—let’s plan to celebrate this gift of God’s grace together!

(First)Communion Class is an opportunity for children ready to learn about and/or participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion. The class will explore what Communion is, why it matters in worship, and what the Eucharist communicates to us as participants. The Table of Fellowship is central to our faith—we love to continue to extend it so that all can experience God’s grace and love. Contact Pr. Garrett to set up a date and time for your child(ren).

All children, youth, and school staff are invited to bring their backpacks and tote bags the last Sunday in August for a special blessing during our children’s time. Even though school is often underway, it is never too late to pause in prayer and gratitude for all who work hard to create safe and supportive spaces for learning. Together, we will ask God’s blessing on our students, teachers, supplies, and technology—gifts that support our education and personal growth.

The first Sunday September, during our 10:00 AM worship, we often present Bibles to all elementary and middle school students who would like to receive one. This is a special opportunity to celebrate God’s Word and encourage our young people as they grow in faith. If your child or student would like to receive a Bible, contact Pr. Garrett so one can be prepared for them today!
